Sharjah Book Fair  11/7/2008 

Many wait this occasion eagerly at a time of coolness about the book , after many people took the substitutes , but what we saw in the Sharjah International Book Fair, moved and sparked memory and conscience.
Sharjah Book Fair was distinctive this year , and the participation of the Centre was very great, like every year Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi personally opened the exhibition, to show the importance of the book, and that it is essential for the nation to read and consider the news , and confirm that linking the past with the present is a part of the future.

New publications:
The center is keen to add a good collection for the Arab and Islamic library every year, and the center has presented in 2008 six valuable publications, the first book is “National education during the Albanian renaissance 1844-1912' a book in which his author Hosni Myzyri, presented the history of the Albanian education and he highlighted the issue of spreading the Albanian-language schools.

The second book is 'reading for learning', written by Dr. Arif al Sheikh, this book is appropriate for various age groups and is beneficial to the general reader, where the author mentioned many ways and examples to get used for reading, about 600 copies of the book have been distributed, each copy costs 5 dirhams, to encourage reading to be a way to learn, not learn to read.


The third book is an investigated book in literature published for the first time, although its author Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Othman bin Mohammad Al Kalbi Al Ashhabi has died in 523 H, verified by Dr. Abdul Razak Hussein, a professor of Arabic literature in King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, The book is in two parts : the study part in which he talked about the life of the author, his age, his poems and so on. The second one is the investigation part in which the author adopted more than one copy for the manuscript of Al Ghazzi divan.


The fourth book is' the relationship between rhetoric and criticism until the end of the 4th century of Hegira , written by Dr. Nawal Abdul-Razzaq Sultan.


The fifth one is “The attitude of the Islamic Sharia from the problem of scarcity of waterâ€‌ written by Dr Mariam Mohamed Saleh Al Thufeeri.

And the last one is “ the Arab Publications Catalogue in Russia 1787-1917â€‌
by Anas Khalidov which is translated from Russia.

Visits and the public


The Center's participation in the Sharjah Fair has many goals and objectives which are not less important than participating in raising the value of the book, such as communication with the public to be introduced with the nature of the work and the services presented by the center. The center has the honor to meet many top figures in addition to the delegations of students from schools, colleges and universities.
Among the most prominent cultural figures who visited the Center from guests of the Sharjah International Book Fair are :
- Mr. Mohammad Al-Murr, deputy chief of the Dubai Culture Authority
- Mr. Ibrahim Abu Malha, the consultant of Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid and the President of the Dubai International Holy Koran Award.
- Mr. Sultan Al Amaimi, the head of the Academy of Poetry.
- Mr. Ali Al Murri, Director of Sheikh Sultan Foundation for Gulf Studies accompanied by Dr. Amro Abdul Hameed, the consultant of Sheikh Sultan for higher education.

- Dr. Ramadan Abdel al Hadi, the cultural consultant of the Consulate-General of Palestine
- Mr. Qasim al-Khalidi, the Director of Libraries in the University of Sharjah
- Dr. Jassim Jargis, the director of the library in Documentation and Research Center in Abu Dhabi
- Mr. Mahmoud Al Marakebi, the author of “jawmea’ Al Kalamâ€‌ Encyclopedia.
- Mr. Obeid bin Butti, a member of the National Council
- Mr. Mohamed Rami, designer and presenter in Al Majd TV.
- Ali Al Amri , the herald and presenter of several programs in different channels
- A delegation from the General Department of Criminal Evidence and offered cooperation with the Center in the field of estimating the age of the manuscript.

-A delegation from the Millennium House in Australia
- A group of school students, researchers and a lot of interested people in manuscripts who offered their manuscripts for restoration, assessment or for information.

The Center and the Media


The media played an important role in raising awareness and education, and reporting the events which would serve the individual and society. We at the Juma Al Majid thank all the media that have contributed to convey the message center to the public who could not attend Sharjah International Book Fair.


The Media Section in coordination with a group of television stations, newspapers, daily and weekly which had done much to outline the efforts made by the Center and we would like to thank them:

Digitalization of books to electronic versions


One of the exhibition activities was a workshop entitled “ converting the papers versions to electronic onesâ€‌ presented by the center in coordination and cooperation with the Arab Association for the Electronic Publishing in Sharjah, in which it showed how to transfer books and manuscripts to digital copies, and how to be photographed, the programs used in processing and saving the photo , the Arab Association for the Electronic Publishing appreciated this participation and presented a certificate of thanks and memorial gift to the center.
