Acquisition Department

This department is responsible for enriching the library through providing  various cultural materials (printed or unprinted) which are needed by scholars and researchers, and facilitating getting them  in order to get benefit from the cultural materials available in the center’s library.

Goals

1-Developing the ways of selecting materials and enriching the center’s library.

2-Seeking to achieve the center’s goals and serving the scholars and researchers on different aspects concentrating on  Arabic, Islamic, cultural and heritage subjects, and  what concerned with the United Arab Emirates in particular and the Gulf region in general.

3-Collecting books and periodicals published in the U.A.E and the Gulf States.

4-Following up the latest publications and the best selling books in the world.

5-Cooperation in the field of cultural exchange with cultural institutions, research centers and libraries within the United Arab Emirates and beyond.

6-Concentarting on quality in choosing library’s collections.

7-Achieving harmony and balance of the library’s materials taking into consideration the language and subject to serve scholars and researchers.

Gifts:

Gifting is considered one of the ways acquiring materials of the library, especially those materials which can’t be acquired by purchase.

Gifting means that a person, institution or establishment volunteer to present the library materials without any cost, the center gifts books and other materials to other institutions.

Exchange 

Exchanging  is considered an important mean of enriching the library and achieving the center’s goal, it is an agreement between the center and another institution, as they present each other dispensable various materials of precious value.

The library can exchange  the following materials :

1-Repeated copies of the materials available in the library.

2-Publications of the center, “Afaaq Al - Thakafah wa Al Turath” (horizons of culture and heritage) and Akhbar al Markaz  (News of the Center).
