Quranic intertextuality in the Uyūn al-basair by. Bashir al-Ibrahimi

Prof. Mariya Reemah Gharbi

This study attempts to elucidate the presence of Quranic intertextuality in the prose of Sheikh Bashir al-Ibrahimi, as an artistic technique in which the writer seeks to charge his texts with the wide range of semantic flavors on both intellectual and artistic levels. I decided to choose the articles of Uyūn al-basair as a model for the study, because of its intellectual and literary value, in fulfilling the Algerian prose experiment, through which Ibrahimi spread the spirit of struggle and fight for freedom, science and Arabism, fostering his text with clear evidence and miraculous language inspired by the Quran. As his texts are distinguished with direct and indirect Quranic intertextuality consciously and unconsciously and employed in various forms. In this study I will try to monitor and reveal the connotations signs and symbols that are behind the text in order to reach to the understandings beyond this intertextual text.

Jurist and Sultan in Andalusia during the era of the Umayyad and sects; harmony and conflict

Dr. Hisham al-Mutawakkil

The research talks about the relationship between Jurists and Sultans in certain period of time. And found that the Jurists in the era of sects formed a social group, having multiple and divergent political positions, some of them supported the sectarian Kings, and opposed others. Some Jurists opposed all sectarian kings, and disapproved their system in itself, while the others worked to reconcile among them in the interests of the Muslims by taking advantage of their position within the Andalusian community. This difference shows us that, the views of the scholars of that era, or most of them at least, were governed by several factors, such as the jurisprudence of the purposes, especially in the volatile circumstances, and terrible political gap that required the formation of a set of jurisprudence of compromise, accommodating political variables.

Dr. Melod Humaidat

A careful reading of the texts of the Ibn Khaldun on Sufism through his famous work called Muqaddimah, or his treatise titled Shifaussail is enough to make you feel the presence of Sufism in Ibn Khalduns thoughts.Despite the difference of approach in both books, the mystic influence on Ibn Khaldun exists. It can not only explained as tolerance, objectivity and scientific spirit enjoyed by Ibn Khaldun; the qualities undoubtedly he had. But we go further and affirm that the mystical presence is evident in his thought. It also confirms the presence of Sufis in his thinking especially al-Ghazali, the reference to his books and citing his quotes occur repeatedly in Ibn Khalduns books.
