Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai participated on Thursday, 16 October 2025, in the Arab Document Day exhibition organized by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The Center’s participation included showcasing samples of original manuscript leaves that demonstrate various forms of deterioration resulting from poor storage conditions. The Center also presented an illustrative display of the bookbinding work it carries out for rare books and manuscripts, using traditional materials that help preserve the authentic character of the heritage.
The presentation featured a detailed explanation of the bookbinding process and the methods used to produce both traditional and modern covers, in addition to an overview of the tools utilized and the types of leather adopted in the binding process. It also addressed the restoration of damaged covers and included samples of historical stamps used in decorating and crafting book covers across different eras.
A number of government and private institutions took part in the exhibition, including the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, the Dubai Historical Documents Center under the Architectural Heritage and Antiquities Department of Dubai Municipality, and the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.
It is worth noting that the Juma Al Majid Center consistently marks this occasion by organizing seminars, lectures, and exhibitions in cooperation with institutions of shared interest.
