Juma Al Majid Center Joins Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center in celebrating Arab Document Day

Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai participated in the Arab Document Day events, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center at its headquarters in Dubai on Thursday, October 25, 2026. The program featured a series of exhibitions, lectures, and workshops, with the participation of various government and private entities concerned with documentation.
The Center’s contribution included a scholarly lecture titled “Scientific Foundations for Preventive and Remedial Conservation Plans for Historical Manuscripts and Documents.” Delivered by Dr. Bassam Daghistani, Head of the Center’s Conservation and Restoration Department, the lecture highlighted key topics such as the sterilization of manuscripts and documents, treatment of biological infestations and chemical damage, manual and mechanical restoration, thermal reinforcement, and traditional Arab-Islamic bookbinding, as well as the proper conditions for the storage and preservation of manuscripts and documents.
The Center also conducted a specialized workshop on the manual restoration of manuscripts, during which it examined various types of damage—such as insect infestations, moisture-related deterioration, and edge damage caused by rodents—and demonstrated manual techniques for addressing these issues. The workshop also showcased the raw materials used to produce the natural paper employed in restoration processes.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Dalmook, CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, visited the Juma Al Majid Center’s exhibition booth and commended the Center’s efforts in preserving and safeguarding documents and cultural heritage. At the conclusion of the Arab Document Day events, His Excellency Abdullah bin Dalmouk honored the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage with a certificate of appreciation. The certificate was accepted on behalf of the Center by Dr. Bassam Daghestani, in recognition of the Center’s participation and contributions to the preservation and restoration of manuscripts and documents.
