A delegation from the Ambrosiana Library in Milan, Italy, headed by Dr. Alberto Rocca, Director of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana Art Gallery and General Supervisor of Special Projects at the Ambrosiana, visited the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage on Thursday, 13 November 2025. The visit aimed to learn about the Center’s services and activities and discuss ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Italian delegation was received by Dr. Mohammed Kamel Jad, Director General of the Center, and Mr. Anwar Al Dhaheri, Head of Public Relations and Media. The Director General welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the Center’s main services and programs.
The delegation toured the Center’s departments, where they viewed private libraries donated by prominent scholars, intellectuals, and writers. They also visited the Manuscripts Department, where they examined rare original manuscripts held by the Center and learned about the cataloging standards applied in manuscript indexing.
The delegation then proceeded to the Preservation, Treatment, and Restoration Department in Al Qusais, Dubai, where they received a detailed explanation from Dr. Bassam Al-Daghestani, the department’s director, on the preservation and restoration processes carried out according to the latest scientific methods.
The visit concluded with a tour of the residence of H.E. Juma Al Majid, who welcomed the delegation. Discussions were held on potential avenues of cooperation between the Center and the Ambrosiana Library.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Alberto Rocca expressed his gratitude to H.E. Juma Al Majid for the warm hospitality, praising the rare manuscripts and private libraries he had seen, and affirming his readiness to strengthen future collaboration between the two institutions.
