Delegation from the Department of Tourism and Culture in Abu Dhabi Visits Juma Al Majid Center

A delegation from the Department of Tourism and Culture in Abu Dhabi visited the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai to learn about the center’s services, activities, and valuable collections, as well as to discuss enhancing cooperation in shared fields.
The delegation included several staff members from the library sector working in cataloging, classification, manuscripts, donation and exchange, and acquisitions. They were received by Dr. Mohammed Kamel Gad, the center’s Director General; Riyad Taher, Head of the Technical Processing Department; and Anwar Al-Zaheri, Head of the Public Relations Division.
The visit began with a documentary film about the center and its collections. Dr. Gad then spoke to the delegation about the center’s history, goals, and activities carried out worldwide. During the meeting, several questions were raised regarding the standards followed in the manuscript cataloging system at the center, the development of the center’s library collections through the acquisitions department, and the donation and exchange system.
The delegation then toured various departments of the center, including the “Path of Giving” exhibition, the Beneficiaries’ Hall, private libraries, and the digital lab, where they learned about the process of converting paper books into digital materials. They also visited the Technical Processing Department, and the tour concluded in the Manuscripts Department.
At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed their admiration for the pioneering role played by the center in preserving human heritage. Both parties exchanged books from their respective publications.
