General Command of Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage. The purpose of this agreement is to enhance cooperation and coordination between Dubai Police and the Juma Al Majid Center.
The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Juma Al Majid, Chairman of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, and His Excellency Major General Marwan Jalfar, Director of the General Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions at Dubai Police, in the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Obaidli, Director of the Inmate Education and Training Department, Mr. Majid Khaled Al Majid, and Dr. Mohammed Kamel Gad, Director General of the Juma Al Majid Center, along with several officials from both parties.
On the sidelines of the agreement, His Excellency Juma Al Majid stated that one of the distinguishing features of Dubai among the world’s cities is the level of security and safety it enjoys, which has surpassed even the largest cities globally. He noted that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his predecessors made security and the preservation of people’s lives and rights a top priority, which is why today, people from all over the world choose Dubai to live in safety and security.
His Excellency Juma Al Majid also praised the high standards of care for inmates in Dubai’s correctional institutions, highlighting the excellent treatment, education, rehabilitation, and training provided at the highest global levels. He emphasized that this is a shared responsibility for all institutions, not just Dubai Police, and that it is the duty of all sectors to collaborate in this noble mission. This is the spirit behind the memorandum of understanding.
Major General Marwan Jalfar affirmed that the signing of this memorandum stems from the General Command of Dubai Police’s and the Juma Al Majid Center’s keenness to strengthen their collaboration, believing in the importance of establishing a partnership to support and develop the inmates of the General Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions. The goal is to train them in the fields of reading, books, and publications to benefit them and prepare them for entering the workforce after serving their sentences.
The two parties agreed to contribute to enriching the libraries of correctional institutions with various intellectual works, supporting training activities, educational programs, workshops, and courses related to inmate rehabilitation, and providing correctional institutions with imaging equipment and related accessories. This will enable inmates to convert books and publications into digital copies. The center will also be supplied with back issues of the “Security” magazine, and both parties will exchange historical information about the history and establishment of Dubai Police, as well as available photographs. Joint work teams and committees will be formed to work on achieving these and other objectives.
