Fourth Abu Dhabi International Conference on Manuscripts

Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai concluded its participation in the Fourth Abu Dhabi International Conference on Manuscripts, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with McGill University in Canada. The event was held from 9 to 10 October 2025 at the Cultural Foundation.
The conference aims, in each edition, to bring together researchers and experts from around the world to discuss issues related to Arabic manuscripts across various fields, such as geographical and literary texts, in an effort to preserve and safeguard this rich heritage.
The Center participated through the attendance of several staff members, in addition to contributing to the management of several conference sessions. Dr. Mohamed Kamel Gad, Director General of the Center, chaired the opening session, which focused on the global perspective of visual arts in Arabic and Islamic manuscripts.
Dr. Mohamed also took part at the end of the first day by moderating a cultural evening that showcased the latest publications in the field of editing and studying treasures of Arab heritage.
This year’s conference hosted a distinguished group of specialists in art history, Islamic and Arabic manuscript studies, cultural heritage preservation, and digital humanities. Together, they explored the theme: “Aesthetics of Visual Arts in Arabic and Islamic Manuscripts: Artistic Legacy and Contemporary Influences,” discussing the intricate aesthetic, cultural, and historical dimensions of these arts and their impact on contemporary artistic expression.
