A delegation from Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai visited the House of Wisdom in Sharjah on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, to explore the services offered by this innovative cultural hub, which uniquely blends the functions of a library with those of a social and cultural gathering space.
The delegation was warmly received by Ms. Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom, who led a comprehensive tour of the facility. She introduced the visitors to its various departments and spaces while offering an in-depth explanation of the center’s mission, goals, and foundational vision.
During the visit, the delegation toured the exhibition “Chapters of Islamic Art: Travel Literature,” which chronicles 13 centuries of exploration and documentation. The exhibit guides visitors through the evolution of geography and cartography—from hand-drawn maps to modern digital tools—while highlighting the contributions of renowned Arab navigator Ahmad Ibn Majid, who relied on celestial navigation to guide ships across open seas.
Among the notable items on display was a rare manuscript by Ibn Majid, owned by Emirati researcher Mohammed Al Koudah. The manuscript was previously catalogued and restored by the Juma Al Majid Center as part of its ongoing efforts to preserve manuscript heritage.
