Juma Al Majid Center Graduates 36 Participants from the Library and Information Science Course

Under the patronage of His Excellency Juma Al Majid, Chairman of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai, the 19th Library and Information Science course concluded on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the center’s headquarters in Dubai. This year’s course, themed “The World of Libraries: A Digital Future Gateway to Knowledge,” lasted for two weeks and welcomed 36 participants from various government and private institutions, including Dubai Police Academy, the Ministry of Education, Al Wasl University, Imam Malik College, UAE University, Dubai Courts, the National Archives and Library, the Dubai Public Prosecution, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities.
The course was delivered by a team of specialized center staff and supervised by Mr. Riad Taher Radwan, Head of the Technical Processing and Repositories Department. It covered key topics such as collection development in libraries, gift and exchange programs, periodical management in public libraries, artificial intelligence applications in libraries, digital transformation in library services, and technical processing of both printed and digital information resources (cataloging, classification, and subject analysis), along with performance evaluation in libraries and information centers.
At the closing ceremony, Dr. Mohamed Kamel Gad, Director General of the Center, expressed his gratitude to the participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the course. He then distributed certificates to the attendees, followed by a commemorative group photo.
It is worth mentioning that the center annually organizes several specialized free courses, including training in library sciences, manuscript verification, restoration, and electronic archiving, in line with its mission to promote culture, heritage, and community service.
