Juma Al Majid Center Highlights the Future of Document Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

On the occasion of Arab Document Day, celebrated on October 17 each year, Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai, in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development in Cairo, organized a virtual seminar on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The seminar was titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Future of Document Management, Retention Plans, and Retention Periods.”
The session featured Ms. Ashwaq Al Marzouqi, a specialist in Saudi Cultural Heritage Management, and Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Alim, an archive and document expert at Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.
The seminar began with Ms. Ashwaq, who provided an overview of the concept of artificial intelligence, its various applications, and its role in supporting institutions moving towards digital transformation. She discussed how AI contributes to building a smarter and more flexible future, highlighting its many benefits as well as the potential challenges and risks it may pose.
Dr. Mahmoud then addressed the mechanisms for leveraging AI technologies, machine learning, and smart analytics emerging from these technologies to establish systems for document management and retention. He explained the methodology for creating retention schedules in organizations, presenting models and examples from both Arab and international projects. The session concluded with an explanation of the key electronic systems for document management that utilize AI technologies, detailing how these technologies are applied in machine learning to develop smart plans for file retention, classification, and retention schedules.
