The Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai participated in the activities of the Literary Expression Forum, which was organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority from November 22 to 23, 2022 AD, and which was held at the headquarters of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, in the Al Jaddaf area.
The center’s participation was represented in an exhibition on the restoration of manuscripts, in which samples of original manuscript papers that were damaged as a result of poor preservation were displayed, in addition to the tools used in the restoration of books, documents and manuscripts.
The center also participated in a workshop for the manufacture of paper manually, which is the natural paper used by the center in the restoration of its manuscripts. The workshop witnessed a great interaction by the audience, as many attendees participated in the manufacture of paper themselves.
It is worth noting that the Literary Expression Forum, organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, had included workshops, seminars and evenings full of dialogues, poetry and language gems over two consecutive days, in which a group of writers, poets and intellectuals participated.
On the sidelines of its participation in the forum, the Center was honored with a commemorative shield from the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, which was received by Dr. Bassam Dagestani, Director of the Department of Preservation, Treatment and Restoration.
