Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and heritage in Dubai participated on Tuesday, October 24, in the Dubai calligraphy Biennale, which is organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority during the month of October.
The center’s participation included an old paper manufacturing workshop, presented by Dr.Bassam Dagestani at the headquarters of the Union Museum in Dubai.
The Dagestani discussed a detailed explanation of the steps followed in the manufacture of paper by the manual method using natural materials such as flax and cotton fibers dipped in water and mesh molds in which the sheets that are subjected to thermal drying are formed, and then appear in their final form as handmade papers suitable for all uses.
The workshop witnessed the interaction of the audience present, and they tried for themselves the method of making old paper.
