The Omani Association for Libraries and Information in Muscat, in cooperation with the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai, organized a virtual lecture entitled “Women and Libraries”, presented by Ms. Sheikha Al-Mutairi, Head of the National Culture Department at the Center. And It was attended by a group of Arab specialists in the field of libraries.
The lecture dealt with the pioneering role of women in working in libraries and establishing them and endowing books on students of knowledge. Some of the works entrusted to women were mentioned, including that in Pharaonic Egypt there were libraries supervised by priests, and men were called the wise men of the magical library, or the book of the double house of life, and was These libraries include religious, philosophical and medical books.
