Juma Al Majid Center sheds light on “Old Paper Manufacturing” at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum

Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai participated in the activities of the summer program organized by the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum in the heritage area in Sharjah, with the participation of a group of distinguished school students.
The center’s participation was represented in a workshop for the manufacture of old paper, which was carried out by Mr. Muhammad Al-Dali, head of the Manual Restoration Division at the center, where Al-Dali gave a detailed explanation of the steps used in the manufacture of paper by hand, using natural materials such as flax and cotton fibers dipped in water, and grid molds in which papers that are exposed are formed. For thermal drying, and then appear in its final form as hand-made papers suitable for all uses.
The workshop witnessed an interaction by the participating students, and they tried for themselves the method of making old paper.
At the end of the workshop, Ms. Badriya Al Ali, the first guide at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, thanked the Center for its cooperation, and presented a certificate of thanks to the Centre, which was received on behalf of the Center by Mr. Muhammad Al-Dali, Head of the Manual Restoration Division at the Centre.
