As part of the cooperation agreement between the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage and Dubai’s Correctional and Punitive Institution—which aims to provide courses, lectures, and workshops for inmates—Ms. Shaikha Abdullah Al Mutairi, Head of the National Culture and Public Relations & Media Departments, delivered a lecture titled “Expression and the Thresholds of Creativity” on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The lecture shed light on the various means humans have used to express themselves throughout history—from ancient civilizations to the modern era—including drawing, carving symbols on walls, and vocal expressions such as whistling languages still spoken in some regions today, in addition to verbal and written communication.
During the lecture, Ms. Al Mutairi emphasized the importance of self-awareness and clarity of thought, supported by a conscious and articulate language, as a path to achieving creativity in all aspects of life. She also highlighted the need to transform emotions—whether positive, like joy, or negative, like sadness and anxiety—into creative writing projects in fields such as literature, media, or economics.
