Panel Discussion: “Juma Al Majid: A Remarkable Journey in Serving Scholars and Knowledge”

Jamal Bin Huwaireb Studies Center in Dubai hosted a panel discussion titled “Juma Al Majid: A Remarkable Journey in Serving Scholars and Knowledge.” The session featured contributions from Professor Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Rahman, President of Al Wasl University and member of its Board of Trustees, and Dr. Mohamed Kamal Jadd, General Manager of the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage.
The session began with an opening speech by His Excellency Jamal Bin Huwaireb, who welcomed the guests and attendees. He highlighted the pivotal role played by Mr. Juma Al Majid in advancing education and culture within the UAE and beyond.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Rahman spoke about Mr. Juma Al Majid’s significant contributions to Al Wasl University, tracing his support from its early days as an institute, then a college, to its current status as a prestigious accredited university. He emphasized how Mr. Al Majid has facilitated education by offering free studies in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, providing monthly financial aid to students, and ensuring free transportation across all emirates. Dr. Abdel Rahman also noted the university’s achievements, including graduating 13,696 students at the bachelor’s level and supervising 396 postgraduate theses and dissertations.
Dr. Mohamed Kamal Jadd then shed light on Mr. Juma Al Majid’s dedication to preserving manuscripts. He detailed his efforts in collecting and safeguarding manuscripts from across the globe, sparing no effort or expense to ensure their preservation. The center now boasts over one million digitized manuscript titles and more than 600,000 printed book titles, totaling two million copies, all made accessible to scholars, students, and researchers worldwide.
The session was attended by a number of university professors, including faculty from Al Wasl University, as well as intellectuals, journalists, and cultural enthusiasts.
