Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai organized a training workshop titled “Future Foresight and Scenario Building,” with the participation of 30 trainees from various governmental and private sector entities across the UAE. The workshop was held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, and was delivered by Dr. Hala Al-Menyawi, Academic Advisor at the London Cultural College.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with tools and techniques for future foresight, supporting decision-making processes and enhancing the strategic efficiency of institutions.
The workshop covered both theoretical and practical aspects. In the theoretical segment, Dr. Al-Menyawi discussed the concepts and importance of foresight, its distinction from strategic planning, and its temporal classifications (short-, medium-, and long-term). She also addressed the analysis of future changes in technological, social, and economic fields, and reviewed methodologies for building scenarios and formulating alternative pathways.
On the practical side, participants engaged in interactive discussions and brainstorming sessions, exploring major transformations expected by 2050 and assessing the alignment of their current skills with future labor market demands.
The workshop heavily relied on brainstorming techniques through questioning and concept extraction. A detailed discussion also took place on the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future, highlighting the challenges and opportunities it presents for institutions and individuals alike.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Mohamed Kamel Jad, Director General of the Juma Al Majid Center, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Hala Al-Menyawi for her outstanding presentation, presenting her with a certificate of appreciation. Participants were also honored and awarded certificates of participation.
