As part of its cultural season activities, the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage organized a workshop on Thursday, 22 January 2026, titled “Risk Management and Leadership in Institutional Decision-Making.” The session was delivered by Dr. Hala Al-Minyawi, a consultant and trainer in human development, and attended by 17 participants representing various governmental and private entities across the UAE.
The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ awareness of risk management as a fundamental pillar of effective leadership. It also sought to equip them with practical skills in risk analysis and assessment to support sound institutional decision-making, improve organizational performance, and strengthen institutional resilience in dynamic work environments.
During the session, Dr. Al-Minyawi structured the program around four key themes. The workshop opened with a comprehensive overview of enterprise risk mapping, expanding the scope of risks to include human, natural, technological, and interrelated risks, and examining their interaction with financial and operational risks. Participants then engaged in a practical exercise to develop a risk map for a hypothetical organization.
The second theme addressed the assessment of non-financial risks using an advanced risk matrix measuring impact on personnel, reputation, operational continuity, and stakeholder trust, alongside an analysis of risk interdependencies. The third theme focused on linking risk management to business continuity by identifying critical operations and aligning risks with continuity and recovery plans.
The workshop concluded with a session on leadership in risk management and ensuring organizational continuity. This segment highlighted the role of leadership in preparedness and decision-making during complex and simultaneous crises, supported by simulation exercises involving scenarios of comprehensive business disruption.
At the close of the workshop, the Center honored Dr. Al-Minyawi with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her distinguished contribution. Certificates of participation were subsequently distributed to attendees.
